Critter or Animal Card: Ursus americanus (Black Bear)

Critter Cards

Introduced in the Elder Stage

Game Use: Critter cards are the final card type incorporated into the Mighty Trees game. Critter cards do not obey tree laws and wreak havoc with the normal game rules. Just a few of the critter's wacky abilities include:"Look at your opponent's hand and get rid of their best cards"; "Retrieve cards from your litter piles (discard piles)"; or even "Have a tree play dead rather than lose a tree combat". Critters ensure that every Elder game will be a unique and entertaining experience.

Description: There are ten (10) different Critter cards. Each card represents a different animal species native to the Southeastern United States. In addition to the critter's wacky game abilities, several factual categories about the animal are also presented. These informational items include: the animals scientific and common names; front and hind paw prints; and length, weight and age ranges of mature specimens.

Real World Applications: Since the information about each animal is real, you can use the cards as:

  • General reference cards to learn about the animal species
  • Flash cards to learn to identify animal tracks
  • Outdoor aid to identify animals and animal tracks
